Covid-19

Practical Tips to Help Your Employees

We all know the story so far. With local lockdowns in place and fears of a second wave, our clients are asking:

What more can we do to support our employees?

Here are 3 practical ways to help your employees.

Be open, honest and direct

It is often said that honesty is the best policy and at present, this certainly feels like the best approach.

With all this uncertainty, demonstrating to employees that we are all is this together will be well received. If your business is struggling, tell them how, why and what you are doing to remedy this. If you need to make decisions that will impact benefits, or make changes to policies, you need to be open, honest and direct.

Your employees know these are difficult times for us all, let them know we are all on this journey together.

Utilise your partnerships

As an employer, you will likely have many partnerships already in place. For example; providers, payroll, benefits systems, professional services etc. Utilise these partnerships. Exploit their support. Every partner you have should be working hard to ensure support is available. We know we are.

Engage with them. Challenge them to see what they can do to help during these difficult times. Use their insight, research, experience, expertise and even their resources where possible.

Make noise and make it tangible

It is more important than ever to continue talking about the support streams you already have in place. For example; EAP, Virtual GP, Mental Health Services, Health Occupational Services etc.

It is also important to put in place the latest and more direct measures related to Covid-19 support. These can be Return to Work Occupational Health Assessments, Antigen ("Have I got it?") or Antibody ("Have I had it?") testing, and On-site Temperature Checking.

Employees need to feel like you truly care. That you are taking measures that ensure their health, wellness, and safety are a priority.

To summarise:

Continuously show your employees that you are there when they need you most.

We are all in this together and we will all come out of it better if we are open and supportive of each other.
